About the Author
Jonathan Stroud was born in Bedford in 1970. After studying English Literature at York University, he moved to London, where he worked as an editor in a publishing firm. He is the author of the best-selling BARTIMAEUS sequence, which is published in 35 languages and has sold 6 million copies worldwide. As well as four other novels: HEROES OF THE VALLEY, THE LAST SIEGE, THE LEAP and BURIED FIRE, Jonathan is now writing a chilling new series called LOCKWOOD & CO. He lives in Hertfordshire with his family.

The series just keeps getting better - please say it isn't over

This series gets better as it goes, and that is saying quite a bit. Each of these books are masterpieces of fiction written to satisfy both the child who is read to, and the parent who reads it aloud.
Significantly more complex and intelligent than Harry Potter, but without quite the universal appeal, these books challenged my 10 year old daughter to come to terms with heroes who were flawed, bad guys who were redeemed and magic put in service of tyranny.
Truly one of the best fantasy series I've read, and highly recommended for ages 10+ (though for the younger crowd, you may want to read aloud rather than handing it off, as these can be a bit dark at times).
I hope the author finds a way to bring back a parallel series, much as Orson Scott Card has done with the Ender Shadow series.

I will miss Nathaniel and hope to see a new story with Kitty and Bartimæus, exploring different Universes. It is possible for people to change to the better.
