JILLY COOPER is a journalist, writer and media superstar. The author of many number one bestselling novels, she lives in Gloucestershire with her husband Leo, her rescue greygound Feather and her black cat Feral. She was appointed OBE in the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her contribution to literature, and in 2009 was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Gloucestershire for her contribution to literature and services to the County.

You will laugh and cry - pure Jilly Cooper awesomeness!

Jilly does it again!! A lot of the favourites are back as well as some new characters and I couldn't put the book down.
We follow Etta Bancroft's journey after her husband's death and discover how her life changes when she finds a severely abused and barely alive horse in the woods. The horse, names Mrs Wilkinson, shows wonderful racing talent and her story becomes intertwined with many a delectable, interesting and despicable character.

A fun romp with jovial characters and some pretty interesting ones, too. The story jumps around a lot, but that's the style of the author, and you get used to it. Too much sexual description for me, I would personally like more in-depth involvement with the horses, but overall this is a grand book a wonderful read, and a great way to spend some down time.

Same old same old but good despite that

JUMP is typical Jilly Cooper. She has always been referred to as the'bonking queen' but this is a lot tamer than her earlier titles. I enjoy Jilly's books particularly her horsey details.
This is also very "english" so some american readers may be a bit lost in translation.
The heroine of this story is older than Jilly Cooper's previous heroines. Newly widowed from an overbearing husband she finds herself manipulated by her son, daughter-in-law and daughter into moving from her large and valuable home to a smaller village ostensibly 'for her own good' but largely to be an unpaid babysitter.
The discovery one evening of a beautiful but horrendously damaged and maltreated mare lead to both a mystery, (whodunnit), the adoption by the village of both the horse and our heroine, and the world of steeplechasing.
I hadn't read a Jilly Cooper for years and found that after a stumbling start, (for me that is), I became keen to see what happened next. The horses and dogs are very much central to the story . My kindle edition had over 1% of acknowledgements at the end of the story almost another short novella! if you loved RIDERS you will love this.
